Arcadia 53rd Festival Of Bands - Page 2
Last Updated: December 29, 2006 And now for the main course...Queen. By the afternoon, we struggled onto Arcadia High's football field for our last 2006 marching rehearsal. Having suffered a tough loss at the parade band awards, we still pulled through to put on a rehearsal that the directors were "satisfied" with. Reed then led us through the way in which we would enter the field. Soon after, we boarded the buses again and headed to the Citrus College parking lot where we ate a fine meal from Hamburger Factory. It consisted of a baked potato, a chicken piece, biscuit, cookie, and a drink. Here's an abridged version of the following events: we dressed into uniform, inspected, section circles, warm-up arcs, full run-through, and finished off with a major Sybilski speech before heading to the stadium.
The atmosphere was chilling. Poway was to go on last at 8:15 PM, having taken the Field Sweepstakes in 2005. Preceding us was Rancho Bernardo and what a tense feeling it was to listen to one of our toughest rivals. But we had a trick up our sleeves. Just that previous Friday evening, we had added a whole new introduction to our show that really made Poway rock. And we did that night. Even before our show started, the crowd was clapping to the BOOM-BOOM-CHICK-REST, BOOM-BOOM-CHICK-REST of the drumline! (For more info regarding our opener, please read on Friday, Nov. 17th of the log page!) Several weeks later, Mr. Sybilski would go on to comment that that night's particular show was one of our most emotional ever. I agree whole-heartedly because I could feel it. "The Magic of Queen" will stay with me and my fellow classmates forever.

Following the performance, we prouldy left the stadium to say goodbye to our uniforms for another year. Mr. Sybilski treated us with another speech regarding the idea that the true value of our show would not be determined by the awards ceremony to come. Finally, Poway re-entered the stadium proudly as the first awards were being handed out in the drum major semi-circle. The suprising results are posted below. Analyze and reflect upon these placements and then forget them forever in the realization of how insignificant they really are...
Hi-light text to reveal!
By 10 PM that night, we were completely wiped out...right up until we checked into the amazing Embassy Suites that we would be staying in for the night! Please go to the Magic Mountain page for continued details about day 2!
