Last Updated: April 16, 2007 The next group of pictures are of from the El Camino Festival! Poway performed both March 9th and 10th, but I went on Saturday. As in the past, I must thank Roblen G. for taking the pictures of Wind Ensemble for me! In between Wind Ensemble's and Symphony's performances, we spent the two hours of downtime at the mall! Most people either ate dinner, changed out of/into their clothes, or left early to go home.
The results? All of the bands recieved Unanimous Superiors and the symphony orchestra recieved an Excellent.
So here are the most recent pictures from the Poway Festival held on March 4th and 5th! The biggest thing was that we hosted sight-reading for the first time this year in N2, the second band room. Groups would arrive, warm up, perform on stage, and then head across campus to N2 to sight read. It was very fun to listen and see over 40 different middle and high school groups perform both days.
As an added bonus, Mr. Fitch, the old renowned band director at Twin Peaks Middle School, was there and recorded every single group! Thanks to him, the recordings of all five Poway groups are now on the sounds page! CLICK HERE to listen!
The biggest benefit for some students was being able to miss class and volunteer all day at this event! For me, I announced some groups on Wednesday morning but I had an alternative motive: I got to watch and take pictures of Symphonic Band, the only band that I hadn't seen previously! There is a good handfull of them below!
So how did we do? All of our groups recieved unanimous superiors and ones in sight-reading. Although it wasn't too big of a surprise, I am glad that I can be a part of high-performing ensemble.
So that's my big spring update. I know that I said the website was closed, but I really wanted to get the festival recordings up. This really was a major update, so I hope that you appreciate it. There is also the possibility that I will update in a few weeks for my Percussion Ensemble! No promises but please check back then...
